Whether it is a wildlife tracker on safari, the sherpa who led you up a mountain or the arts expert who led you through the galleries of Florence, the one person who is most likely to influence your holiday is your guide.
Set up by Wanderlust, the World Guide Awards (formerly the Paul Morrison Guide Award) is now in its fifth year. The winner and runners-up are awarded bursaries that they can spend on community projects or furthering their own knowledge and qualifications.
This year's judging panel will be led by the author Bill Bryson and includes Graham Boynton, Telegraph Group Travel Editor. They will assess the guides on three main criteria: knowledge, communication and empathy.
Tell us the name of your chosen guide and the area in which he or she operates and add a note on the qualities that make your candidate stand out. You can post your nomination to Paul Morrison Guide Award, Travel Desk, The Daily Telegraph, 111 Buckingham Palace Road, London SW1W 0DT or email guideawards@telegraph.co.uk with "World Guide Awards" in the subject line.
The closing date is February 25. The six finalists will be named in Wanderlust and in The Daily Telegraph in early April. The winner will be announced at a special evening at the Royal Geographical Society on September 28.
