Last weekend, we were reaching for the sun block. This weekend, we'll be reaching for sweaters. Maybe even an umbrella.
A coastal eddy has formed, sending cool, moist air ashore, causing the marine layer to become thick. The clouds won't burn off until mid-morning, or later, along most of coastline on Saturday. And there could be sporadic drizzle west of the mountains. Daytime highs across San Diego County will only be in the50s and 60s, says the National Weather Service.
A low pressure system will cause further cooling on Sunday, which is Mother's Day. Temperatures are expected to be 5 to 10 degrees below normal. And winds will pop inland, gusting 25-35 mph.
Honoring your mom, or anyone who is a mother figure, is hard to figure out each year. Yes, moms love the handcrafted coupon books, decoupage trays, and hand-traced flowers (I keep mine in my kitchen). But moms also love to be pampered and just spending the day chilling with the kids. Mother’s Day is sure to be a beautiful day along San Diego’s coastline, and we’ve listed a number of ways to enjoy the day. Because no matter how much you spend on mom, the real value is your gift of thought and time. Happy Mother’s Day!
