First of all, we would like to say that Katie Holmes has been looking stunning lately. There were a few years there where she was rocking mom hair (and occasional mom jeans) and a constant woeful, what-have-I-done sort of expression, but no more!
Holmes has cranked back the clock as she promoted her new film "Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark" at the LA Film Festival, and her youthful Joey Potter glow was in full force at the 2011 Women In Film Crystal and Lucy Awards. Flawless!
Holmes' husband Tom Cruise (you may have heard of him) turned 49 on Sunday, and to celebrate, she threw him an intimate dinner party with 40 of their closest friends in Miami, reports The New York Post. The couple is in town while Cruise films "Rock of Ages." All of his kids Isabella, 18, Connor, 16, and Suri, 5, were at the party, though apparently J.Lo and Marc Anthony were unable to make it.
In the movie, Cruise's character is a rock star at the top of his career. The actor will sing Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive," Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar on Me" and Scorpions' "Rock You Like a Hurricane." He is also a part of other numbers including Foreigner's "I Wanna Know What Love Is" and Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'"
The all-star "Rock of Ages" cast also includes Alec Baldwin, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Paul Giamatti, Russell Brand, "Watchmen" actress Malin Akerman, "Pretty Little Liars" actor Diego González Boneta, "Dancing With the Stars" professional Julianne Hough, Mary J. Blige and "Breaking Bad" actor Bryan Cranston.
Holmes was recently honored with the Max Mara "Face of the Future" Award at the "Women In Film" group's Crystal + Lucy Awards ceremony.
"I've really enjoyed all the roles that I've been given," Holmes told OnTheRedCarpet.com at the event. "I think you always try to approach every project with the best intentions and you try your best. And when you're living, you try to live a good life."
The actress recently tapped Cruise's eldest daughter Isabella "Bella" Cruise as an apprentice at her fashion line, Holmes & Yang.
Cruise adopted Isabella, 18, and his son Connor, 16, with ex-wife Nicole Kidman. The actor also has a daughter, Suri, 5, with Holmes. Holmes and Cruise married in 2006.
Holmes will next appear in the horror movie "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark," which is slated for release on August 26, 2011. Guy Pearce co-stars in the film, which was scripted by "Pan's Labyrinth" writer/director Guillermo del Toro.
